As a project consultant for Bright Plus OS, I'm currently rotating as an HR employee at Duvel Moortgat. I've been there for a year and a half now, yet I'm still learning every day. This is important to me, because gaining many learning experiences was exactly why I wanted to work as a project consultant. I majored in marketing, but after graduating I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I have a broad field of interests that I want to explore further in this job. Also HR appealed to me, so when Bright Plus offered me this HR project as my first assignment, I eagerly jumped at the chance.
At Duvel Moortgat, I'm currently specialising in compensation & benefits, better known as the payroll team, but HR was previously unknown territory for me. This means that everything I learned in the past period, I was able to learn on the job. Knowledge that will last for the rest of my career, even if, in the future, I do decide to take a more creative path in the fields of marketing, sales or event management. Even though I can now put my talent for numbers to good use in my job, I do miss that creative part a bit. But I might have never discovered that, had I not started working on a project basis.
I also like the responsibilities I get from both my project supervisor at Bright Plus and my supervisor at Duvel Moortgat. I love working in a team, but also feel good when I get to work independently. Another big plus at my current job within HR is, of course, the contact with the people in the organisation, from the workers to upper management. Being able to help them with the right information gives a great sense of accomplishment.
