Choose the right look to make an impact at your job interview!
Your CV and qualifications are not the only things that count during a job interview. Your appearance is just as important and makes a lasting first impression. And because it is closely linked to your outfit, you can't afford any mistakes. After all, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression.
Add to this the fact that clothes make the candidate and that what you wear will make you feel totally different. If you want to make an impact in your interview, it is essential that you feel good about yourself by wearing the right outfit. Dress to impress! That's the way to make sure you make a great first impression during your job interview.
These 7 dress code tips will help you be prepared and stylish:
Each sector and every company has a specific dress code. View photos on the website, talk to staff from the organisation or from the sector. Is the dress code there business formal, rather business casual or perhaps even just casual?
If you feel good, you'll come across as assertive, and this will allow you to focus on the content of your interview.
Avoid extreme use of colour and never combine more than three colours. Go for neutral colours like dark blue, grey, brown or black. They project an image of reliability and professionalism.
Jewellery, scarves, belts... they make a classic outfit trendy and allow you to affirm your personality. But be careful not to overdo it!
Clean shoes (with heels), manicured nails, matching jewellery… they confirm that you can see the big picture and they complete your look.
These aspects also reflect your professionalism and identity.
Such as too many exposed, visible piercings or tattoos. Stained or excessively baggy/tight-fitting clothes are definitely unacceptable!
And finally, know that your smile is your best "clothing item"! It does wonders… Wear it proudly and radiantly. Bet it will win them over?!
