I came to Bright Plus - called Secretary Plus at the time - about 5 years ago because I was looking for a new job, and knocked on their door to guide me through this process. I hadn't considered a possible opportunity at Bright Plus itself. But when that was presented to me, I was immediately curious for more. The people-minded approach of the organization, combined with clear expectations and targets, won me over. That's how I started in the Mechelen office in 2017.
I had recently become a mother when I started, nevertheless I still wanted to give 100% professionally. That does require some flexibility from an employer. (Small) children sometimes unexpectedly get sick, and then ambition and 'being a mom' are sometimes diametrically opposed. However, that turned out not to be the case at Bright Plus. Here I can combine both things perfectly and one doesn't have to get in the way of the other. This meant I could roll into this new adventure with confidence.
When I started, I was warmly welcomed to the team - a desk full of streamers and matching "you've got this" memes were of a part of that. It quickly became clear that the colleagues here form a strong team, but that they also work very hard. Let's just say the days really fly past, here. Talking to customers, looking for candidates, accepting applications, doing the figurative puzzles to make things fit - it all happens at the same time here. So it's a job with more than enough challenges.
That is precisely what motivates me in this job. Really making a difference - helping a candidate find the right challenge or helping a client with an (urgent) recruitment need. Customers who quickly get to know your name because they are satisfied with the service and because a few words are enough for you to know what they are looking for. Working towards a shared goal. Achieving success together - as a team and as an organisation. Getting feedback so you can grow. And when you're ready, the opportunity to continue that growth, in your current role or another role within the organization.
I started out as a Sales and HR Consultant, but was given the opportunity to grow into Business Manager. Last year the opportunity surfaced to combine this with an Account Management role within our Outsourcing Solutions division. That way I can continue to develop myself and be challenged. I can think along about opportunities for the team and the organization. It creates an interaction, between employees and employer, through which we all learn from each other. That, combined with a clear work-life balance, makes me feel completely at home here.
This way I come home satisfied after a day at the office - with my colleagues I could challenge and prove myself as "Zenna", and at home I can just be mom and partner. My laptop then shuts down, ready to fly into the next day again with renewed energy.
