For a year now I've been working as an HR project consultant through Bright Plus OS. I'm now 54 years old and gained much experience in this field in the past. It is a sector I already lost my heart to years ago. For me, the essence of the job is helping people. This can be in many different ways: with questions about their pay, with their paperwork, with their contract, with setting up a schedule or vacation planning, with psychosocial support.... Reassuring people, actively listening to them and working with them to find the solution to their question, that's where my strengths lie.
Of course, there are other important skills besides helpfulness and a passion for people. For example, good language skills and strong communication skills will help you go a long way in the job. Also discretion, empathy, accuracy and learning agility. The world of HR is constantly changing, and as a project consultant, that adaptability and willingness to learn is of course even more important. But with an employer like Bright Plus, who is always there for you and supports you both professionally and personally with a sympathetic ear, with feedback, with training and support, all of that runs smoothly.
Outlining the profile of the ideal HR employee, however, is simply impossible. After all, it's a professional field in which you can go in so many different directions that the profile of the HR employee can also be very diverse. So you have HR officers who will specialise in all things payroll and have to be very good with numbers. However, if you're a recruiter, you need especially good people skills and interviewing skills. The conclusion? In HR, there are opportunities for everyone and the growth potential is endless, as long as you have a passion for people.
